Dr. Mellott graduated with his doctorate in Tissue Engineering and Regenerative Medicine from KU's Bioengineering Program in 2014. While working on his doctorate, he served as both a graduate teaching and research assistant. As a student, Dr. Mellott was awarded a Fellowship from the National Science Foundation allowing him to travel to Japan for research. He is a certified Pharmacy Technician. He obtained his B.S. in Biology from the University of Kansas. Currently, Dr. Mellott is a Post Doctoral Researcher for the University of Kansas.
